Is it easy being intentional?

Jan 21, 2021

If your New Year’s resolution for 2021 was to lead your business from a place of rest and intentionality, how’s that working out for ya?

If I had to take a wild guess, I’d assume, your path to intentionality could be going a lot smoother.

If that’s the case, no judgment! You know me, and you know I reserve the tea and shade for things (and people) that actually deserve it.

Because here’s the truth – being intentional is hard work.

I’ve met coaches who preach intentionality to be something as simple as boiling water. That you’ll be able to get on that path if you follow their ‘3 Step Rule’ and just ‘think positive’.

Well fuck them.

You know why?

Because slowing down requires actively fighting against the white supremacy culture we’ve been brought up in.

It means saying an active ‘screw you’ to the only way we’ve been taught to run a business.

It means waking up and realizing that capitalism and capitalist culture is absolute bullshit.

And that requires courage and a lot of groundwork, y’all.

When you don’t have the evidence that slowing down and being intentional actually works, you might not feel inclined to do it at all.

On the other hand, when you’re presented with post after post about how ‘the hustle’ made people millionaires in 4 months (*rolls eyes*), you might feel more inclined to just give up your ideas of intentionality and do what everyone else is doing.

More than anything, our mind craves the familiar. And tbh for many of us, urgency is the most familiar thing on the planet.

So, how do you break the urgency mold and set yourself free?

Until next time,
Gieselle
