my biggest f-up this year

It’s not easy for me to admit when I make a mistake.
My brain keeps telling me
“Gieselle, no one’s gonna work with you if they think you’re not an expert. No one trusts people who make mistakes. Hide your flaws. You gotta be perfect and shiny all the damn time.”
But I know that’s just my internalized whiteness speaking. The parts that I’m still working to decolonize.
I know revolutionary leadership is about transparency.
It’s about showing up, raising my hand, and saying, “Hi, my name is Gieselle Allen and I fucked up too.”
And on today’s episode of the Revolutionary Rising podcast, that’s exactly what I’m going to be doing. I’ll be talking about my biggest mistakes of 2020 and walking you through the lessons I learned from those experiences.
For example, I recently had this big launch that I’d worked really hard on, and was super excited about.
But things didn’t go as planned.
Why? I didn’t take my own damned advice.
You see, I’d actually followed somebody else’s strategy for this launch. Even though several things about it didn’t resonate with my values, even though it didn’t feel right for my audience, I convinced myself to do it because… it’s worked for so many others, right?
But it didn’t work for me.
And I learned once again that you cannot be successful if you follow other people’s rules that are not in alignment with your vision and intuition.
That launch reminded me of something I know very well but tend to forget sometimes —
YOU always have the answer.
Whatever it is that you’re aiming for, in the depths of your heart, you always know what is right for you. You don’t need someone else’s voice in your head. You just need to give yourself the space to listen to what your intuition is trying to tell you.
But this wasn’t the only time I fucked up this year. I made some other big mistakes too but I also made some good ass decisions that completely changed my life and my business.
I’ve learned a lot this year. But the best thing about fucking up is taking the lessons from my experiences and weaving them into my coaching so that my clients know better when your turn comes around.
